As any great DJ will tell you, the art of digging is hard work, dedication, and a profound love for music. The internet has provided us great accessibility to thousands upon thousands of tracks. But with great power comes great responsibility. Throughout the years I’ve matured as a DJ/Producer and found that the one thing I love about this creative field is the spreading of knowledge.

While trainspotting was once taboo, I welcome people to share where they find their tunes. I truly believe that sharing resources with other people is a positive thing. Many will argue that giving away the secrets will open the door for “posers,” but I believe that those who have the dedication will take those tracks and build amazing sets with them. While those that don’t put in the work will have 45-60 mins of track A to track B blending. Thus I only provide the tools, it’s your hard work and dedication that will take it to the next level.

With that said here are some of my preferred sources for online diggin’ and remember it’s your job to filter through the tracks and only select the grade A choice stuff. I hope you enjoy these little gems and feel free to post your favorites in the comments below.

Beatstyle & Instrumentals (95bpm)
Strictly Beats
What’s great about Strictly Beats is that most of the music on here is very unique and if you find a gem and drop it at a party, it’s almost a done deal that no one has heard the track. SB is packed with independent artists that release their tunes for free (usually via their Bandcamp account). These tracks are great, for mellow BBQ’s, galleries, and down tempo parties.

Mashup (Various bpm)
The Hood Internet
While this site is mainly THI’s work, it’s a great spot for really great mashups. Everything from Usher to Sleigh Bells. If you are looking for party bangers with a twist, check out THI.

Electro & Remix (130 bpm)
Living Electro
LE is a great source for high quality remixes of Top 40 and rock classics. A must for big electro party banger sets.

Chemical Jump
Probably one of the best electro sites there is. Although, I can do without all the random girl booty photography. CJ features the latest and greatest in hard electro. A definite daily dig site for all of my electro friends out there.

Dubstep (140 bpm)
Dropcliff - Dubpaks
This is the one. The one gem that is worth investing quality time into. While Dropcliff makes it super easy, it’s also a chanllenge digging through each Dubpak and finding the best of the best. By far the best thing about Dropcliff is that they release a weekly high quality Dubstep zip file called a “DubPak.” A dubpak is loaded with primo quality Dubstep and is very up to date. For those of you looking for some quality dubstep this is the place to find it.

All things considered
EarMilk
This site has it alll; Dubstep, Electro, House, Indie, Hip Hop, Rap, Mashups, etc. It’s a one stop shop for great new music. They also release weekly dubstep, electro, and mashup packs. The cherry on top is that this site features amazing design and hi quality imagery. For those of you who know me then you know how much I enjoy a well designed music website. Kudos to EM for putting out amazing content and design.
